Our goal is to provide Public Power for Kentucky through cost-effective practices and reliable sources of electricity

In 2015, ten municipal utilities formed KYMEA to collaborate and deliver reliable, cost-effective energy solutions more efficiently than they could alone.

KYMEA serves its member municipal utilities by providing reliable, cost-effective energy and the expertise, resources, and support needed to strengthen their local power systems. Through collaboration, planning, and shared resources, KYMEA helps members address challenges, pursue opportunities, and achieve their individual community goals.

While their diesel engine power plant provides a relatively small amount of energy to our overall portfolio of coal, solar, natural gas, and hydroelectric, the plant has a big story to tell.
